DIRECTOR’S ANNUAL REPORT
There are about 18,164 members in 636 Junior Red Cross Circles, says the director of the New Zealand Junior Red Cross, Miss J. Studholme, m her annual report. This means an increase of 1498 members and 29 circles. "Juniors have been most active throughout the year and their practical help has extended to some fresh fields," says Miss Studholme. Three refugee or displaced chUdren have been supported for at least six months each at a Swiss Preventorium. Two thousand ditty bags Y® 1 " 6 ? ♦ £761 8s 6d had been distributed to Korean children, goods worth £2O to lepers, clothing worth £l5O to India and many other goods to Greece and England. Many homeless children in Europe had been sponsored for a year by New Zealand schools. Throughout the year juniors had also sent fruit, flowers and books to local hospitals and gifts to orphanages, children’s homes, health camps, mental homes and sanatoriums. In one centre afternoon tea had been provided once a month for 80 old people. Girls had given service after school at a day nursery.
