PENSIONS
Sir,—We see by the paper that there is a surplus of money held by the Government. Mr Nash puts it at £21,400,000. Does the Government not think it would be a big help to age beneficiaries, invalidity beneficiaries, and widows and others to give them a rise or to give them a bonus at Christmas to help them out, as the cost of living exceeds the pensions? A rise would help considerably now, as some beneficiaries would be able to get some extra firing, which they are unable to do. I am one of them, with a child.—Yours, etc.,
INVALIDITY PENSIONER. May 26, 1955.
