MODERN TRENDS

Sir, —Inevitably, there comes a time when half-truths and all falsehood must stand revealed, and the truth be fearlessly proclaimed. What your correspondents like John Burbridge must understand is that there are sinister men of immense wealth and power in the world who are manipulating from behind the scenes, both capitalism and communism, so that these both serve their own global ambitions. The “Russian” Revolution of-'1917 was foreign in its leadership and organisation. It was financed and directed by the great Jewish financiers and lenaing-houses of New York City, who also supplied most of the leadership. They established the Communist regime in Russia, and have backed and manipulated world communism, as well as the capitalist system, ever since. This conspiratorial complex of interests forms today an “invisible government” of the American Republic. Let the Marxists among us puzzle their silly heads over these great truths. —Yours, etc., JOHN T. ARMSTRONG, Member, League of Empire Loyalists. May 26, 1955.

Sir, —If we don’t have peace neither F. W. Stevens nor anyone else will need to worry about Zionists, Communists, Fascists, religionists, capitalists or financial spookists, as all we will need will-be the crematorium; and even this may be useless, as there will not be anybody alive to work it. What a pity for the shareholders of the Crematorium Society! I suggest that any organisation that uses a whipping horse to gain notoriety is doomed from the start. Peace is the only thing with a future; the rest is either dying, in process of change, or will bring annihilation. If the mad men succeed in getting war going then, under the incubus of atomic incineration, Man will strangle his stranglers. The books F. W. Stevens mentions should be analysed, like this: who wrote them and who benefits from the thesis? If the vast majority benefit, then they may be depicting the truth.—Yours, etc., MELVILLE B. MITCHELL. May 26, 1955.

Sir, —F. W. Stevens should know that the root causes of conflict arise from the social relationship existing between one variety of animal and another or from classes existing within the same species. Perpetual peace exists between co-operative insects, like bees and ants. Constant war prevails among competitive animals, like cats and mice. If all cats were abundantly fed meat, the need to destroy mice, given time, would disappear. When the knowledge to produce abundance was unknown, human conflict was imperative for the little food existing. Today potential abundance exists, but its exploitation and distribution are prevented by a few monopolists, who have cornered the world’s resources for private aggrandisement. The human price paid for this social relationship is constant war, unemployment, malnutrition, and imminent annihilation. The remedy is "worldwide co-operation, envisaged in a federal union of socialist States. This is the only road to peace.—Yours, etc., JOHN BURBRIDGE. May 26, 1955.
