AIRMEN BURIED IN TARARUAS
VICTIMS OF DEVON CRASH (New Zealana Press Association) MASTERTON, Feb. 23. The two airmen who lost their lives in the Royal New Zealand Air Force Devon aircraft that crashed in the Tararua Ranges on a flight from Ohakea, were buried this morning. Two crosses of mountain beech and a wreath of mountain flowers marked the graves of Flight Lieutenant Edward Casey, of Christchurch, and Flight Lieutenant William Trott, of Auckland, below a knob 4400 ft up in the ranges. Representatives of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the Search and Rescue Organisation, and a relative of one of the airmen attended the funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Father J. H. Sloane, of Silverstream, and Padre M. N. Dickey, of Ohakea. The clergymen tramped from Powell Hut at 5.30 a.m.vtoday over extremely rough country. It took four and a half hours to reach the scene of the crash. Mr J. N. O’Connell, of Lower Hutt, represented the families of the two airmen.
