WORLD Y.W.C.A. CONFERENCE

FIFTEEN DELEGATES FROM N.Z.

Mrs W. Grant and Mbs May Hoblin will leave Christchurch by air on November 18 as delegates to the Y.W.C.A. World Membership Conference to be held in Marysville, Victoria, about 60 miles from Melbourne. Fifteen delegates from New Zealand will attend the conference, which will be held from November 22 till December 3. Eighty delegates from countries including India, Ceylon, Japan, Bunna, Siam, Canada, Britain, the United States, Australia, and Hong Kong, are expected to be present. Preparations made by the New Zeadelegation include studying the countries of other delegates, and alsd the. social, educational, and economic ditions of the Dominion. Subjects to be discussed at the conference include membership; standards of living, health, and food; education, mutual service, and the Y.W.C.A.’s response to changing times and the effect on women and girls. Mrs Grant is the president of the bo.ard of directors of the Christchurch Y.W.C.A., and Miss Hoblin, who will represent clubs within the Christchurch branch, is also president of the Five-thirty Club.
