WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS
Cust-West Eyreton.—At the October meeting of the Cust-West Eyreton branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers, held at West Eyreton hall. Mrs Fleming presided over a good attendance of members and friends. One new member was welcomed. At the October meeting it is customary to collect pennies for friendship, which go to the Associated Country-women of the World. The total this year is 9s Bd. The president urged members to enter for the Cora Wilding Cup. This entails writing an essay on “the woman who has most contributed to world peace.’’ Competition results were as follows:—Ginger cake.: Mrs A. Gartery 1, Mrs L. Higginson 2, Mrs W. Fleming 3. Small bloom: Mrs M. Frizzell 1, Miss R. Eaglesome 2, Miss Washington 3. Large bloom: Mrs Ryde 1, Mrs G. Washington 2, Mrs C. TaHott and Miss R. Eaglesome, equal 3. Arrangement of spring flowers: Mrs W. Fleming 1, Miss R. Eaglesome 2. Mrs G. Washington and Mrs Gartery, equal 3. Group points are: daffodil 153, dahlia 127, rose 101, lily 140. Southbrook-Flaxton.—Mrs Shuttleworth presided over the October meeting of the Southbrook-Flaxton branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. An Invitation to the Ranglora division’s birthday party was accepted. The monthly competition was won by Mrs Atkinson. Mrs W. J. A. Hollow gave a talk on the growing of dahlias. Competitions resulted as follows:—Large bloom: Mrs D. Archer 1, Mrs Matherson and Mrs-Dunlop (equal) 2, Mrs Atkinson and Mrs Shuttleworth (equal) 4. Small bloom: Mrs C. Kolkman and Mrs A. Mclntosh (equal) 1, Mrs Atkinson and Mrs Allen (equal) 3, Mrs D. Taylor 5. Three cream puffs: Mrs Allen 1, Mrs Scoltock 2, Mrs Matheson 3, Knitted article: Mrs Atkinson 1, Mrs Matheson and Mrs Scoltock (equal) 2, Mrs L. Kolkman 4.
