PLUNKET SOCIETY
LADY NORRIE OPENS N.Z. CONFERENCE (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 3. About 200 delegates from branches all over New Zealand are attending the biennial conference of the Plunket Society, which was opened officially by her Excellency Lady Norrie in Wellington today. The Director-General of Health (Dr. J. Cairney), and senior officers of the Health Department were present. Her Excellency, who is patron of the society, congratulated the society on its activities. She* said that only 50 years ago, knowledge of child welfare was practically non-existent, and members could not be too thankful to the founder. Sir Truby King, and those who had followed him. The society’s most outstanding event this year had undoubtedly been the visit of the Queen to the Dominion Training Centre in Dunedin, said Lady Norrie. She could not imagine a better career for any girl than to become a Plunket nurse.
