PAKISTAN IN GOOD POSITION
(N.Z. Press Association—(Rec 7 p.m.) LONDON, August 30. Pakistan, with five second innings wickets in hand, and Middlesex, to bat a second time, has a lead of 295 runs in the match at Lord’s, and Middlesex may find difficulty in avoiding defeat on the last day tomorrow. In a fifth-wicket stand today, two young county players, Bennett and Titmus, added 103 after Middlesex had made a bad start. At the end of the innings, the 17-year-old leg-break bowler, Khalid Hassan, took three wickets in 10 balls without conceding a run. For Pakistan, Alimuddin and M. Ahmed put on 114 in 80 minutes for the third wicket. Scores.—Pakistan 303 for seven declared; Middlesex 175 (Bennett 59, Titmus 54; Shujauddin four for 66, Khalid Hassan three for 27); Pakistan 167 for five (Alimuddin 85. M. Ahmed 63).
