BANKS PENINSULA CLUB A request that sail numbers be shown is made by the commodore of the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club (Mr A. C. Lambert) in his annual report to be presented to the club’s annual meeting on September 15. “Failure to show the number renders a boat liable to disqualification in races. This club, with others, when protesting against ’ proposed Marine Department rules, guaranteed that sail numbers would be carried as a means of indentification. in the event of air search and rescue. It will be appreciated that the latter in particular is in the owner’s interests,” says Mr Lambert. The club membership was now 173. From the point, of view of weather, the last season was probably one of the best for many years. “It is regretted that because of a change of heart the Canterbury Club rescinded a motion to transfer the slipways to this club,” says the report. "As negotiations to take over the Canterbury Club’s slipways have fallen through preliminary work on levels and grade of the site of the hauling out area have been undertaken. It is hoped to be able to table a full report and recommendations at the annual meeting,” he says.
