AMERICAN’S VIEW OF TRADE

LETTER READ IN COMMONS LONDON, March 23. Mr W. Feinburgh (Labour), illustrating in the House of Commons what he called the “misconception existing in the United States about East-West trade,” said that he had just received a postcard with a New York postmark which typified the extreme view that any trade with the East at all was a betrayal of the Western cause. The postcard was addressed to “The Most Dishonourable W. Fienburgh, K.O.A. (Knight of the Order of Appeasers), House of Commons (Most common part of it), London, England (formerly Great Britain).” It read: “Your country’s appeasement of Hitler led us into World War 11. Your country’s appeasement of communism will lead us into a third world war. Your ghoulish soul will not find peace until it is burned in atomic fire and buried under the smoking ruins of your country.”
