COMET FLIGHTS RESUME
LONDON, March 23. Britain’s Comet jetliners resumed their passenger services today after 10 weeks suspension as the result of the crash of a Comet in the Mediterranean near Elba with the loss of 35 lives, on January 10. A British Overseas Airways Comet took off today for Johannesburg—the first of the jetlinei routes to be reopened. It carried 36 passengers. It was announced in Calcutta today that the latest type of radar equipment will guide 8.0.A.C. Comets into the Dum-Dum airport, Calcutta, during the coming monsoon season. A London bound 8.0.A.C. Comet crashed last May in heavy monsoon weather shortly after taking off from the airport, killing all 43 on board.
