RELIGIOUS BROADCASTS
Sir, —Your correspondent M. G. Davies accurately diagnosed the state of religion at the present-day. It is from the “motherhood” of the orthodox church, however, that spiritually responsible “disciples” must come. As a New Zealand writer, Mr L. Bassett, has written, during this present transitional state of the race’s evolution, an increasing number of people will become weaned from the institutional church and will accept the “fatherhood” of God, or live from an inward centre of spiritual intuition, gaining, directly, truth and sustenance. These types will not find much spiritual fellowship within the churches, nor will the Broadcasting Service bless them, being regarded, as with most pioneers, as heretical and a nuisance. But they will be the nucleus of a new world order. The welfare of the church and of the Broadcasting Service will depend on courageously supporting those who may come under the heading of “cranks.—Yours, etc.. PROGRESS. July 10, 1953.
Sir, —I have read three splendid letters on this subject and warmly support them. I am well aware that the orthodox religions in control regulate the broadcasts to the exclusion of small churches. Christ preached, “Other sheep I have which are not of this fold” (John 10:16). “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word it is because there is no light in them” (Isa. 8:20). “Fear not. little flock: for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you toe kingdom” (Luke 12:38). In face of this Biblical evidence how. then, can those mainly representing the orthodox church unity movement presume to be commandment keepers and of the “little flock”? I find that it is absolutely essential to search the Scriptures to their very depths, and therefore advocate broadcasting complete truth or nothing at all. —Yours, etc., PATHFINDER.
