LANCASTER PARK

Sir, —I was interested to read this morning the comments of Mr R. M. Macfarlane about toe use of Lancaster Park for Rugby League test matches. He has at least told the people of Canterbury just how to go about righting this injustice that exists at the present time. However, one portion of Mr Macfarlane’s comments interests me. Could I be enlightened on the portion of the Victory Park Board of Control Act that requires the amendment suggested. Could you also please print in- detail the wording of the plaque that stands on the gates at Lancaster Park. The president of the New Zealand Rugby Union, in a statement, referred to the fact that amateur sports provided the upkeep for Lancaster Park; he omitted to state that the parents of present-day Rugby League footballers assisted to provide the funds to save Lancaster Park for sport.—Yours, etc., t. f. McKenzie. Cobden, July 8, 1953.
