BRITISH FLOOD RELIEF
MID CANTERBURY GIFT ACKNOWLEDGED
Mrs R. Hazel Lili, secretary of the Mid-Canterbury Federation of Women’s Institutes, has received a letter from Mrs Norah Annison, honorary secretary of the Sandringham Women’s Institute. Norfolk, England, thanking the federation for a donation of £26 6s 8d sent by it to the Sandringham Institute for flood relief in its district.
Mrs Annison writes that Sandringham did not suffer from the floods, as all cattle there were saved, but three neighbouring villages had suffered heavily in loss of life and property. She said her members would distribute the money among those who needed it most, and that the kindness of the senders was appreciated. The money was collected at a garden party; held by the Mid-Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes at Longbeach, the home of Mr and Mrs J. H. Grigg. About 450 members of institutes were present, and the president of the federation (Mrs J. R. Mounsey) suggested that a collection should be taken up and the money sent direct to the Sandringham Women’s Institute, of which Queen Elizabeth is a member.
