3RIDE CHRISTCHURCH GIRL

(From the London Correspondent of “The Press”) LONDON. May 2. Mr. lan Hotting, a former AU Black and English international Rugby wingthreequarters, was married today to Miss Joan Smail, youngest daughter of Mrs Smail, of Fendalton. Christchurch, and of the late Mr J. I. Smail, in St. Peter’s Church. Scremerston. on the outskirts of Becwick-on-Tweed. The ceremony was performed by the Rt. Rev. G. V. Gerard. Assistant Bishop of Sheffield, and formerly Bishop of Waiapu. ‘ Miss Smail wore a dress of magnolia Italian brocade. She was attended by Miss Cara Fleming, of Wellington, who wore a dress of honey-coloured corded taffeta. Derek and Ann Smajl. son and daughter of Miss Smail’s brother, Major J. I. M. Smail, of “Kiwi Cottage,” Scremerston, were the trainbearers, and Mr Bottlng’s brother, Mr Miles Bottmg. was bfest man. The bridegroom s mother, Mrs R. W. S. Botting, of Dunedin, was present at the wedding. The reception was held at Major Smail’s home. Mr Bolting has been in England since 1949. He touretf Sbuth Africa with the All Blacks, and later visited South Africa as a member of an OxfordCambridge touring side. After completing a degree in theology at Oxford University, he completed his studies at Lincoln Theological College. He will be ordained next month in Sheffield Cathedral.
