BOOKMAKER FINED £300

(New Zealand Pratt Association) TE KUTTT, May 12. After pleading guilty to a charge of carrying on the business of a bookmaker, Henry Stanilaus Kyle, of Te Kuiti, was fined £3OO by Justices of the Peace and warned that he could not hope to escape prison if convicted again on a similar charge. Detective-Sergeant Taylor, of Hamilton, said that when he and Constable Spice had visited Kyle’s premises at 12.30 pan. last Saturday they found papers indicating that Kyle had recorded £2OO as accepted bets.
