CHRISTMAS BONUS

Sir,—l think it would be a .kindly gesture by the. Government to pay out at least part of the Christmas bonus to the aged people at the time of the Coronation. That would be.half of the year gone. It seems a tragedy to have to wait until Christmas, as the winter is their worst time, especially with the rising cost of living. Many of these old people will never make the grade; and it seems as if it will be only the fittest who will collect. The Government will collect the rest. —Yours, etc., OLD TIMER. Waimate, April 7, 1953.
