GUN DOG TRIALS
CANTERBURY CLUB OPENS SEASON The Canterbury Gun Dog Club held its opening trials on Sunday. Both the land and water grounds were in good condition with plenty of growth, enablipg every dog to work for his game. An interesting feature of the day was the large number of young puppies. Although most were too young to compete at the opening trial, the club is assured of some large and interesting puppy events during .the season. The president (Mr A. E. Seeker) was judge for, the open trial, and the puppy events. Mr Bill Streeter judged the limit land and the novice land sections, and Mr Bill Drury judged the novice water class. Results:— Open (Combined Land and Water).—W. Streeter’s Labrador, 177 points, I;,M. P. Leathern’s springer spaniel, 167, 2; Mrs P. Poulton’s English springer spaniel, 150, 3. Limit Land.—P. Poulton’s springer spaniel, 85 points, i; W. R. Hawker’s Labrador, 83, 2; L. G. Harris’s curly-coated retriever, 80, 3. Novice Land.—L. G. Harris’s cocker spaniel, 85 points, 1; R. M. Morten’s Clumber spaniel, 84, 2; Mrs C. M. Cooper’s springer spaniel, 81, 3. Novice Water.—A. E. Seeker’s springer spaniel, 53 points, 1. Puppy, Water.—J. Luke’s springer spaniel, 81 points, 1. Puppy, Land.—J. Luke’s springer spaniel, 80 pbints, 1.
