DARFIELD AUTUMN FLOWER SHOW
The Darfield Horticultural Society held its autumn flower show recently. There were fewer entries in the, dahlia and gladioli sections, but otherwise the entries were well up to standard. The following were the judges: cut flowers, gladioli, and dahlias, the Rev. Father Taylor; decorative, Mrs A. E. G. Lyttle; home industries. Mrs R. Bedford; homecraft, Mrs R. McDonald: vegetables and fruit, Mr B. B. Blackmore. Prize-winners were:—
Most points in spring and autumn shows: Mrs R. J. Bell. Most points in autumn show: A. Nimmo. Most points in dahlias (Mrs L. F. Gough’s trophy): Dr. J. W. Avery 1, A. Nimmo 2. Most points in gladioli: A. Nimmo 1, Mrs D. Westaway 2. Most points in cut flowers (Milne Shand Cup and Evison and Bell trophy): A. Nimmo 1, Mrs C. Greening 2. Novice cut flowers: Mrs Bisphan 1, D. Penny 3. Decorative, most points and Avery rosebowl: Mrs J. Bonvick 1, L. F. Gough 2. Miss J. Loe’s special: Mrs J. Mulholland. Mrs J. Borwiek’s special: Miss E. Reardon. Mrs J. Green’s special: Mrs J. Bonvick. Novice decorative and Mrs G. Gillander’s trophy: Mrs J. Dawson 1, Miss June Jowers 2.
