PEOPLE’S DAY

Sir, —During the last few days the Agricultural and Pastoral Association has been advertising the "show” with an appeal to everyone to come, with special mention to the People’s Day, Friday. Surely this should be changed to "Members’ Day” as the advertisement states that the inside parking area and the "main grandstand” are reserved for members only. Is it not the public who contribute the greatest amount towards the cost of the show? Why therefore are they deprived from seeing the ring events from a commanding position? Friday is the people’s day? Well, let the people have it. The members can definitely have their share on the Wednesday and Thursday.—Yours, etc..

LET THE PEOPLE HAVE IT. November 10, 1952.

[“As the correspondent touches upon a question of association policy, I, as secretary, have no opinions upon the question raised by the correspondent,” said the secretary of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association (Mr M. E. Lyons), when this letter was referred to him.]
