AMERICA’S POLITICAL FUTURE
Sir, —"Mac” has strayed from the subject of America's political future: 1 A real watchdog gives the alarm by barking, not as "Mac” says, "attacking, guided by instincts of hate.” 2. My statement of the Catholic vote in the Presidential elections is not unsupf'orted, but was given by a commentaor reporting from America in Radio Newsreel the evening the results were being broadcast. 3. I agree with "Mac’s” statement, "that the Catholics have played in the past and are playing in the present a very prominent part in the Labour movement of the British Commonwealth.” We have a Tory Government in every country! 4. The names mentioned, according to reliable accounts, were not strict adherents of the Church. Savage, O’Brien, and Chifley each kept to his socialistic message, the Church came last. Chifley fought strongly for nationalisation of the banks, against Catholic anti-action, —Yours, etc., WATCHDOG. November 11, 1952.
