ALLIES RETAKE RIDGE
(Rec. 12.50 a.m.) SEOUL, Oct. 22. South Korean troops recaptured Sniper Ridge today after a fierce battle with Chinese Communists. They regained the peak nine hours after they had been driven off by about 1500 attackers. Except for a see-saw battle for Sniper Ridge on the central Korean front, there was little ground activity today. Hampered by clouds, fog and rain, Allied planes made comparatively few strikes against the enemy frontlines.
