DISMISSAL OF MR SOUTHON

APPEAL TO BE LODGED NEXT WEEK An appeal against his dismissal by the Christchurch Transport Board will be legally begun by Mr L C. J. Southon immediately after his return from attending the Peking peace conference about the middle of next week. This was announced yesterday by Mr J. Shankland. jun.. who is acting as secretary of the Tramway Workers’ Union while Mr Southon is overseas. “We regret that the board has seen fit to adhere to its decision to dismiss Mr Southon in face of the opinion which is prevalent among the public.” said Mr Shankland. “Mr Southon will be back in Christchurch about the middle of next week, and the appeal against his dismissal will then be filed in the normal legal manner. It has to be filed by him personally."
