“BRITISH FINANCE AVAILABLE ”

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 22. “British finance is definitely available for investment in New Zealand,’’ said the Mayor of One Tree Hill (Mr B. P. Stevenson), who returned by air today from a trip which included Australia, Singapore, Rome, England, and America.

In fact, he said, financiers would welcome the’ Dominion’s return to the London market. Members of the London Stock Exchange had given an assurance that £4,500,000 would certainly be available for the Auckland harbour bridge. “I was assured by a man high in the London financial world—a man who is one of the leading financiers and who is connected with the stbck exchange —that money is definitely available for investment in New Zealand,” said Mr Stevenson. “He told me that it is certainly available for the Auckland harbour bridge, a project backed by the New Zealand Government. The interest rate would have to be 4J per cent.”
