CHILDREN’S PLAY TO BE PERFORMED

An innovation in Christchurch, in the form of a play for children, is to be introduced towards the end of this year. Plays for children are a regular feature in many cities in England and America. Esme Church's Civic Playhouse in Bradford and the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, for instance, give performances regularly. In some of the plays, the children themselves perform, but more usually the parts are taken by adults. Later in the year a play, specially written for children of all ages, and successfully performed in England last year, is to be presented for the first time in Christchurch by Mrs Neta Neale, in the Repertory Theatre. There is a large adult cast, and Mrs Neale is now looking for suitable actors and actresses.
