WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS
Cheviot.—Officers were , elected as follows at the annual meeting of the Cheviot □ranch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers, held recently, Mrs C. A. iviowat presided. President, Mrs C. A. Mowat: Vice-presidents, Mrs F. N. Jackman and Mrs E. Winskill; secretary-trea-surer. Mrs F. D. Childs; committee, Mesdames D. HcNabb, C. W. Denton. A. E. Pettingill, W. G. Dickson, J. Waiton, W. Hughes, D. H. Mime, J. Kearns, W. Mudge, M. Childs, M. Livingstone, G. L. Neu, P. F. Childs, a: Held, D. Loder, G. H. Webb, George Tate, D. McLaren, Misses J. Jackman and M. Stewart; delegates to attend Hurunui executive annual meeting, Mesdames C. A. Mowat, E. Winskill, F. W. Jackman, and F. D. whilds. Betore the meeting members entertained the Dominion president (Mrs I. L. M. Coop) and Mrs Nutt, a member ot uie executive, to a luncheon. A musical item was given by Miss A. Pain. Oxford—Members of the Oxtord branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers voted in favour of a new executive to ba formed in Rangiora, at their monthly meeting. Mrs W. J. Skurr presided. Mrs Weston and Miss Perham were appointed delegates to the Dominion conlerence in Wellington in July. Mrs T. Mehrtens introduced Mrs Boyens, who gave a talk on "The Flowers in Rarotonga." The results of the competitions were as follows:—Small bloom, calendula: Miss Browne 1, Mrs Nash 2, Mrs Allan 3. Large bloom: chrysanthemum: Miss V. Perham 1,2, and 3. Bowl of chrysanthemums: Mrs Weston 1, Mrs Mehrtens 2, Miss V. Perham 3. Date loaf: Mrs McSwcency 1, Mrs W. Eley 2, Mrs Mehrtens 3. Brusseil sprouts: Mrs E. Magrath 1, Mrs Le Comte 2, Mrs Mehrtens 3. Stewart's Gully.—The Stewart's Gully branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers held its annual meeting in the Salvation Army Hall. Mrs Codp, Dominion president, presided. She gave a talk on the history and the aims and objects of the division. The officers were re-elected. Competition winners were Mesdames Davies. Phipps, Hopewell, and Anderson.
Russell’s Flat.—Mrs McLean presided at the May meeting of the Russell's Flat branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers, held In the Russell's Flat Hall. A new member was welcomed. A letter was received from tne sponsored child, thanking members for the parcels she had received. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Buxton and Miss Bloor. Competitions, judged by Mesdames D. Stott. Wason, J. D. Clark, am} W. J. Scott resulted as follows:—Senior section: Large bloom: Miss J. Sutherland 1, Miss A. Bloor 2, Mrs Wason 3. Small bloom: Miss G. Clark 1. Miss Sutherland 2, Mrs Wason 3. Large cluster: Miss Bloor 1, Mrs Wason 2. Miss Sutherland 3. Small cluster: Mrs Wason 1, Miss Bloor 2, Miss Sutherland 3. Shortbread: Miss Bloor 1, Miss Sutherland 2, Mrs J. D. McLean 3. Indoor section: Miss Bloor Woodend-Waikuku.—Mrs F. McQuillan presided over the monthly meeting of the Woodend-Waikuku branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers. A new member was welcomed. The guest speaker was Mrs W. C. Frizzell, of the North Canterbury provincial executive, who spoke on a proposal to form a new provincial of northern branches. Competition results were as follows:—wholemeal loaf: Mrs H. Vaughan 1, Mrs Little 2, Mrs G. Vaughan and Mrs Sheridan (equal) 3. Swede: Mrs H. Vaughan 1, Mrs Kerr 2. Mrs Ayres 3. Large bloom: Mrs Turner 1, Mrs Kerr 2, Mrs Shea 3. Small bloom: Mrs Little 1, Mrs Sheridan 2, Mrs H. Vaughan 3. Spike: Mrs Kerr 1, Mrs H. Vaughan 2. Cluster: Mrs Turner 1, Mrs Shea and Mrs Little (equal) 2, Mrs Kerr and Mrs Forbes (equal) 3. Ouruhia.—Mrs Brown presided at the April meeting of the Ouruhia branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers. The programme for the forthcoming year was discussed. Competitions were won by Mesdames MeCleeve and N. R. Ashby. The monthly competitions resulted as follows:—large bloom: Mrs Harvey 1, Mrs N. R. Ashby 2 Small bloom: Mrs Marsh 1, Mrs E. N. Ashby 2. Spike: Mrs R. Stead 1. Mesdames E. V. Ashby and W. Johnston (equal) 2. Cluster: Mrs Stead 1, Mrs N. L. Ashby 2. Decorative: Mrs Marsh 1. Mrs Stead 2. Prettiest plate: Mrs Humm 1, Mrs Brown 2. Sewing: Mrs Brown 1. Mrs L. Johnston z. Cooking: Mrs Brown 1. Mrs L. Johnston 2. Darfleld.—Mrs F. Cridge presided at tne May meeting of the Darfleld branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs R. S. Williams in her recent bereavement. One new member was welcomed. Remits to be presented at the annual conference in Wellington were discussed. It was decided to purchase a kit to make an all nations flag. An interesting demonstration on the making of lace was given by Mrs Brookes, of Christchurch. The collection for the sponsored child in England realised 13s 34. Jenkins and Mrs Rutledge (equal) 1, Mrs M. Jenkins and Mrs J Borwlck (equal) 3. West Melton.—Mrs J. D. Henderson presided at the May meeting of the West Melton Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Mrs Rennie (Pines Beach) gave a demonstration on the making of twine mats and also pictures from pressed flowers. Competitions resulted as follows: large bloom: Mrs Watson 1. Mrs J. A.
