RIOT IN HONG KONG
“INCIDENTS NEED NOT HAVE OCCURRED”
HONG KONG, March 3. The Hong Kong Government said to-day that yesterday's riots would not have occurred if the rank and file unions and others concerned had been told of the postponement of the expected visit by the Communist ’‘comfort mission” from Chiha. The Government stated that it received information that the mission’s visit had been postponed. “It was understood that this information was passed to the Federation Of Trade Unions Nevertheless it seems that in the light of subsequent events the rank and file unions and others concerned continued to.be kept in ignorance “The whole regrettable incidents would not have occurred had the organisations concerned been given the truth by the Federation of Trade Unions concerning the proposed visit of the mission, ahd more especially the information that the proposed visit had been postponed.” - '
