U.S. EXPORTS TO SOVIET BLOC
BIG REDUCTION LAST YEAR (Rec. 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Mar. 2. The Secretary of Commerce (Mr Charles Sawyer) said to-day that strict United States export controls had reduced drastically the Volume of American-made goods that found their way to the Soviet Bloc nations. He said that in 1947 more than 173,000,000 dollars worth of Americanmade goods were going to CommUnistddminated countries each quarter. This figure was reduced to less than 150,000 dollars in the last quarter of 1951.
