LITTLE RIVER SHOW

Sir, —I want to ask on whose authority the school children are sent to pick up dirty papers, etc., after the show. Apart from the possibility of catching some disease, it is not a child’s task. They are sent to school to be taught. Is the show committee so fond of the £ s d that it will allow children to do this? This should be stopped once and for all time.—Yours, etc., INTERESTED PARENT. Little River, February 25, 1952. [“The show committee, in return for the services of the school children on show day, give the school committee a gift, usually in the way of sports gear,” said Mr P. J. Byrne, secretary of the Banks Peninsula Agricultural and Pastoral Association, when this letter was referred to him.]
