Gothic’s Officers Appointed (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 14. The Shaw Savill liner Gothic will be commanded by Captain A. V. Richardson during the voyage of Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh to Australia and New Zealand. The chief engineer will be Mr O. S. Walker, the purser Mr W. E. Cordery, and the chief steward Mr J. C. Smith. The Gothic will leave Liverpool for Southampton this week-end. She will undergo engine and speed trials en route and is due in Southampton on December 22. She will be painted before leaving for Mombasa, where the Princess and the Duke will. embark on February 7. Captain Richardson was in charge of the Largs Bay when she was mined off Naples during the war Mr Walker was in the Tairoa, which was sunk by the Graf Spee, and he was detained on board the German battleship during the Battle of th«» River Plate. He was among those rescued by the Navy from the German prison ship Altmark.
Mr Cordery served in the Dominion Monarch when she was a troopship
