SHIELD CHALLENGES DECLINED

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 17. Special Ranfurly Shield challenges from the West Coast and Thames Valley have been decllited bv the holder, Waikato. Advice to tnls effect was received by the New Zealand Rugby Union to-day from Waikato, the reason being insufficient dates.

The union received the Waikato letter, It being said that approval had already been given to Waikato's remaining fixtures for this month.
