REWA SCOTT WINS TWICE

IMPRESSIVE EFFORTS AT HUTT PARK

Rewa Scott made short work of her opponents at her two appearances at Hutt Park on Saturday and she looks as though she will soon win her way through the intermediate classes. She showed great promise in her racing last season, but was disappointing on a number of occasions when she broke at crucial stages of her races. She has now won three races since being trained by A. Holmes at Yaldhurst, and althqugh she is on a long mark she will have to be respected if started next Saturday at Wellington. Rewa Scott was always* handv to the leaders in the Introductory Handicap on Saturday and C. King brought her out to challenge the pacemaker, Fairy Dell, inside the final furlong. Shq responded gamely and won going away from Ingenuity, which finished on. Fairy Dell tired over the last bit, but battled on for third well clear of Flicka Boy. Rewa Scott was rehandicapped 48 yards in the Wainui Handicap later in the day, but she was handy to the leaders at the end of four furlongs. Peter Triumph, which had broken at the start, made the pace over the last mile and at the straight entrance he was closely attended by Ingenuity and Rewa Scott. The last-named finished on well to win comfortably from Peter Triumph, with the consistent Ingenuity right up third,. They were well dear of the fourth horse. Jonquil which went his best race since being trained at Belfast by C. S. .Donald. Rewa Scott Is a seven-year-old mare by U. Scott from Reclaim, by Wrack from the imported mare, Trix Pointer, winner of the 1919 New Zealand Trotting Cup. Reclaim, which was a useful winner at the trotting gait, is also the dam of Doonholme and Acclamation. Trlx Pointer was a great success when retired to the stud and among her progenv were the brilliant double-gaited Wrackler, winner of the New Zealand Trotting Cup and the Dominion Trotting Handicap. Arethusa (the dam of Farnborough), Ochiltree and Aidershot. Rewa Scott is bred to go a long wav end now that she has become solid she should carry on. Not Disgraced

Star Rosa was not disgraced when she was beaten by Tactician in the Johns Handicap at New Brighton. She was slow at the start, but had moved into sixth place at the half-mile. She drew up to Tactician at the straight entrance, but could not outsprint him. She was the only one to make a race of it with the winner, and she should make amends the next time she is produced. She has never looked better. Svrprts- Win

Loyal Scott upset calculations when he led from end to end in the Ferry Handicap at Hutt Park on Saturday. He responded gamely under a hard drive to hold off the fast-finishing Helall, a brother to Chamfer, by half a length. Jacquard, the third horse, is a half-brother to Vedette. Loyal Scott showed useful form last season in similar events, but he failed to win a race. He is an eight-year-old gelding by U. Scott from Loyal Bonny, and he is a member of the same family as Adorian, Morano, and Forward. Loyal Scott is owned and trained by C. L. Rhodes. J. D. Litten’s Success The West Melton trainer. 3. D. Litten, produced three winners at meetings on Saturday. Casameter won in impressive style against the pacers at New Brighton, and Irish Orator and Our Roger won at Hutt Park. Triple Play was also placed at Hutt Park. Our Roger, which had run unplaced in the Wellington Stakes after meeting interference, was paraded again in the Woburn Handicap, the following race. After a stern tussle with Josephine, he came on to win narrowly but well by half a length. Our Roger showed considerable promise in his racing last season, and he should develop worthwhile form this term. He is a four-year-old gelding by Dillon Hall from Sea Gypsy, by Lusty Volo from Bertha Parrish, by Guy Parrish from Berthabell. He races in the interests of his breeder, Mr W. A. Newton, Akaroa. Division Winners Tilly Girl’s success in the Denniston Handicap gave the Belfast trainer, P. G. Wilson, his first win since he took out a professional trainer’s licence several months ago. Tilly Girl broke in the running, but she had moved up to be handy to Alouette at the straight entrance. She came on to win comfortably from Alouette, with Kawatiri, which had been 10 lengths behind Tilly Girl at the half, finishing strongly into third place just ahead of Bruce Scott. The others were beaten off. Tilly Girl is a four-year-oid mare by Great News from Mavis de Oro, which traces back to Berthabell, ancestress of Molly Grattan, winner of the Waimangaroa Handicap later in the day. May’s Surprise made the pace in the second division, but she could not withstand the challenges of Lucky Scholar and Penno’s Pride. Lucky Scholar was handy throughout, and she came on to win in impressive style. She is a five-year-old mare by Lucky Jack from Schoolbelle (the dam also of Kingsway), and she Is trained at Ashburton by her partowner, C. A. White.
