BELFAST GARDEN CLUB
Mr G. Brown presided over a good attendance of members at a meeting of the Belfast Garden Club, held in the R.S.A. Hall. Mr Hume, of Canterbury Agricultural College, addressed members on the classification of various fruits, and displayed many varieties. This wa* followed by the showing of two interesting films. The judging of the home gardens resulted as follows:—Mrs E. Crundwell, 138 points; Barry Fuller, 2, 135 points; Miss Williams and Mrs L. Pateman, 133 points (equal), 3. Mr and Mrs D. Bisman were the judges. Mr S. Gower notified members as to the correct time for the sowing of seeds in readiness for spring and sunftner flowering. It was announced that a tour of the Christchurch prize winning gardens would take place this week. Mr Brown presented Mr Hume with a VSK'’ 0 ” hu k '” ,r Competitions resulted as follows: Spiked gladioli: Miss Elliott 1, Mrs Gower 2, Mrs Marsh 3. Jug of gladioli: Mrs Marsh L Mrs Gower 3, Miss Clarke 3. Tomatoes: Barry Fuller 1, W. McFadden 2, S. Gower 3. Bowl of mixed fruit: Mrs S; Mrs Q - Brown 2. Cucumber: W. McFadden 1.
