Amos, who had not been in the water for a month because of a poisoned toe, took Ute 100 yards tn 57 4»ec. ahich was 2sec slower than hi* best time. athieson’s winning time in the 440 yards backstroke was Smin Sl.Osec. Mis* Griffin moved easily from start to finish to beat Miss Joan Hasting* and Mis* .Kristin Jacobi, the 1980 title-holder, in the women’s 330 yard* freestyle.
