TRACK WORK AT KICCARTON

SMART GALLOP BY ENTRANCING

Aft outstanding gallop over seven furlongs by Entrancing (D. J. Thistoll), Profane (R. Matthews), and Maunga Reka (C. I. Macdonald) marked the training at Riccarton yesterday. Entrancing was just shading Maunga Reka at the finish, with Profane close up, to record Imin 26 2-5 ssc, the last four furlongs in 50 2-ssec. All galloping took place on the trial grass. Finance (J. Telfer) sprinted his four furlongs in 52 4-ssec. His owner-trainer, C. C. McCarthy, intends racing him at Trentham next month.

Nestorian (F. Thomson) was galloping nicely a neck in front of Mightgo (E. G. Rosew'arne) on completing three furlongs in 36 2-ssec. Nestorian Is a neat bay filly by Malibu from Infiltrate, and she is trained by R. E. Johnstone. Jolly Sailor (B. S. Finlayson) could have improved on his time of 49 2-ssec for four turlongs. C. C. McCarthy has this smart galloper in grand order for spring racing. He will race next at Trentham.

Airwork (J. T. Anderson) was kicked up to beat Robbie (N. Eastwood) narrowly in their run over six furlongs, which took Imin 19 l-ssec, the last four in 52 4-ssec. Puck (J. Telfer) appeared to be going better than Helio (B. S. Finlayson) over the final stages of their run over six furlongs. They recorded Imin 18 3-ssec. the last four furlongs taking 52 l-ssec. Argonaut (Gordon) showed to advantage in his run over six furlongs with Hue and Cry (D. M. Kerr), being two lengths clear at the post, which was reached in Imin 17sec, the last four in 52sec. Terminus Shows Dash

Though under a good hold, Terminus (N. F. Davison) completed four furlongs in the smart time of 48 2-ssec. The Airway gelding is an impressive track galloper. Disturbance (D. M. Kerr) also galloped atractively to record Imin 16 l-ssec for six furlongs. She was not asked for her best to run the last four furlongs in 51sec.

Exchequer (R. Drinkwater) and Bridgeway (N. Symons) sprinted their four furlongs in 51 l-ssec. Exchequer carried a big weight, so his was a useful effort. Royal Hoax (A. J. Stokes) went away from the six furlongs, and was accompanied for the last four by her stablemate, Dan Kelly (N. G. Davison), which finished a length in front. Royal Hoax ran the six in Imin 17sec, and the last four took 51 4-ssec.

Aptitude (D. J. Thistoll) showed to advantage over four furlongs, finishing ahead of Fricka (D. M. Kerr) and Tallahassee (R. Matthews), and recording 52 l-ssec. Betula Pleases

Betula (G. Hillis) with the better of the weights, was three lengths in front of Arrowlea (J. R. Shaw) on completing four furlongs in 50sec. Betula showed zest for her task, and F. D. Jones has her in good order for spring racing. Turbulent (H. W. Hibberd) was half a length in. front of Stagdance after running six furlongs in Imin 17 l-ssec, the last four in 52 l-ssec. Turbulent showed speed after beginning slowly in the Longbeach Hack Haridicap at the Grand National meeting, and he should race well at Ashburton.

Paper Royal (A. J. Stokes) was going better than Rising Glory (C. I. Macdonald) on completing four furlongs in 48 3-ssec.

Lord Montrose (L. J. Ellis) sprinted four furlongs in 51 3-ssec. He was accompanied over the early stages by Whittaker (R. Patterson), but the latter was not hurried and completed the journey about six lengths behind his stablemate. Resolute Fit Resolute (K. O'Brien) and Revelry (R. Drinkwater) could have improved on their time of 50 2-ssec for four furlongs. Botn are in splendid order for racing. Lady Coral (N. F. Davison) was half a length in front of Ulster Queen (J. T. Anderson) on completing four furlongs in 50sec. Magical (G. Hillis), which developed considerably while spelling, showed brilliance to sprint five furlongs, starting at the mile post, in Imin 1 3-ssec. He ran the first four furlongs in 48 l-ssec. Blue Star (G. W. Mein), which scored his first win at the Grand National meeting, ran four furlongs in 51 2-ssec. Waltzaway (N. Eastwood) beat the Lord Bobs—Kilbore colt (A. J. Stokes) bv four lengths over three furlongs in 34 4-ssec Trained by C. B. Dawson for Mr H. A. Rhind, Waltzaway is a two-year-old filly by Lord Bobs from Waltzing Matilda. Ballochmyle’s Task Ballochmyle (D. R. Mackie) was given an easy run over six furlongs, and thia powerful galloper effortlessly ran the last four in 51 l-3sec. Lord Lansdowne (D. M.
