SUPERANNUITANTS

Sir, —“Superannuated,” of Greymouth, whose letter appeared in today’s issue of “The Press” is not the only member of this large section of the community, throughout the Dominion, who is shocked at the treatment handed out by the present Government to superannuitants. It seems fairly obvious that the advisers to the Minister of Finance are misinforming him regarding the attitude of these members towards politicians who fail to honour their promises. The various services from which these men and women retired were all built on the integrity of their members, and it is disheartening after 40 years of honest endeavour to serve the public and various governments, to find that now promises are worth nothing.—Yours, etc., ANOTHER SUPERANNUITANT. August 28, 1950.
