BRITISH SUBMARINE AT SYDNEY
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND NEXT MONTH (New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, July 7. H.M.S. Thorough, one of the Royal Navy submarines based at Sydney, will be in New Zealand waters during August in order to carry out exercises with units of the Royal New Zealand Navy, said the Minister of Defence (Mr T. L. Macdonald) this evening. H.M.S. Thorough is scheduled to arrive at Auckland on July 28 and will visit the Hauraki Gulf, Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, and New Plymouth, returning to Sydnev from New Plymouth on August 26. The commanding officer of the submarine is Lieutenant-Commander J. Devlin, D.S.C., R.N.
