SEGREGATION OF SEXES AT GLENELG

Sir, —As a nurse and health camp matron, I feel I must support Mrs Mirams in her contention that boys and girls should be taken together at Glenelg. If separate accommodation is inadequate, then have the children together in the dormitories or at least the younger ones. Why not? Anyone who visits the same hospitals can see for themselves boys and girls together in children’s wards. I have found the children happier and more contented together. It seems more natural. I can see no great difficulties, if the will is there to effect the change. The reorganisation of the dormitories should be a simple matter.—Yours, etc., EX-MATRON. Timaru, May 25, 1950.
