FUNDS FOR MEMORIAL PLAYGROUND

“ MAYORAL ELECTION ” AT HORNBY

The Dr. Hol more Memorial Playground Committee at Hornby is conducting a mock mayoral election to raise sufficient funds to complete the playground. Two candidates, Messrs P. A. Cannon and A. F. Harper, are competing for the mayoralty, and each is assisted by an energetic campaign committee.

Ballot boxes have been placed at strategic points in the Hornby township and suburbs, the voting being by penny contributions. Any money raised by the committees is credited to the respective candidates in penny units or votes. Weekly progress returns are shown, and at the end of the fourth week the position was: Mr Cannon, 23.536; Mr Harper. 24.462. The contest will conclude on June 6. when the successful candidate will be installed with ceremony.
