VISITING LEADERS AT RECEPTION

The National Council of Churches in New Zealand held a morning reception at the Sign of .he Takahe yesterday for three Anglican prelates who are leaders of the ecumenical movement abroad. The Archbishop of Sydney (the Most Rev. H. W. Mowll) is chairman of the Australian council for the World Council of Churches, the Bishop of Goulburn (The Rt. Rev. E. H. Burgmann) is chairman of the Australian council’s sub-committee on international affairs, and the Bishop of Kobe (the Most Rev. Michael Yashiro) is a vice-chairman of the National Council of Churches in Japan. They were welcomed by the chairman, the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. A. K. Warren). Archbishop Mowll spoke on his council’s work in Australia, Bishop Burgmann on the need for unity and co-operation, and Bishop Yashiro on ecumenical activity i in Japan.
