MAN FATALLY INJURED THOUGHT TO HAVE FALLEN DOWN STAIRS (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 22. A man who was found lying unconscious at the back of a house in Upper Queen street early yesterday morning died in the Auckland Public Hospital last night from a fractured skull and internal injuries. He was: James J. Bower, aged 29, a labourer employed at the railway ; oods sheds. It is thought that he fell down a flight of stairs. ELDERLY MAN KILLED STRUCK BY MOTOR-VAN (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 22. An elderly man was killed when he was struck by a motor-van in Manukau road to-night. He was: Joseph Hunter Montgomery, aged 78, a labourer, of the Salvation Army Industrial Home, Epsom. Mr Montgomery received severe head injuries and was taken to the Auckland Public Hospital, but he was dead when he arrived there. MAN AND WIFE INJURED CAR OVERTURNS NEAR STUDHOLME JUNCTION From Our Own Reporter TIMARU, May 22. A honeymoon couple were injured when their rental car ran off the road, struck a bridge, and overturned on the Main South road near the Studholme Junction railway crossing at about 6 a.m. yesterday. Confetti, blankets, and luggage strewn about the roadway attracted the attention of a passing motorist who found the car on its hood across the crown of the road and the injured couple. Mr and Mrs Edgar Clinch, of Dunedin, on the grass about 21 feet away. Mr and Mrs Clinch were admitted to the Waimate Hospital suffering from concussion, cuts and abrasions. Their condition to-day was reported as satisfactory.

Mr and Mrs Clinch were married the previous day and were travelling north,. The car was extensively damaged.
