JOBS FOR CIVILIAN AMPUTEES

APPEAL TO INDUSTRY

An appeal to employers of labour to assist in the rehabilitation of civilian amputees was made by the annual conference of the New Zealand Civilian Amputees’ Association in Christchurch yesterday.

“The association is very interested in the rehabilitation of civilian amputees by means of trade training and recommends that facilities be provided by the Government so that every disabled civilian has the opportunity to become skilled in an occupation suitable to his particular disability,” said a statement issued by the conference.

“It is felt that this problem is also one for industry generally, and the association requests all employers of labour to give what assistance they can in placing amputees in employment which, while being fully productive, is within their capabilities.”
