POSSIBLE ROYAL TOUR IN 1952
AUSTRALIAN COMMENT RESTRICTED ITINERARY EXPECTED (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 15. Former officials of the Commonwealth Royal tour said in Canberra today that if Their Majesties the King and Queen visited Australia in 1952, their itinerary would be drastically reduced from the one proposed for their 1949 tour. It was expected t;hat Their Majesties would visit the capital cities only, and make day trips from the capitals. 'The news that the King and Queen hope to visit this country in 1952 will delight Australians of all kinds, whatever their party or politics,” says the Sydney “Sun.” in a leading article. “The announcement is welcome, not only because Australians have a natural desire to see their King and Queen, but because the decision shows that the King has sufficiently recovered from his illness to feel capable of such a journey.”
