ATOMIC CONTROL

DR. GARBETT CALLS FOR AGREEMENT

LONDON, February 5. The Archbishop of York (Dr. C. F. Garbett) has condemned the race to make the hydrogen bomb. He said that the race could end only in war or in international agreement for control of the weapon. If the bomb were used, civilisation would be swept away.

Compared with the need for some agreement on the question, political disagreements were as "the playing of children in sand.” He urged that every effort should be made to outlaw and control this “devilish weapon.”
