RECRUITMENT OF CLERGY

Sir,—l know personally one very fine young theological studewt who turned away from the .work after 12 mont is’ training because of his failure to pass University examinations. Can the Archbishop or anyone else in authority tell me what University examinations or any other high education the good Lord Jesus Christ had. I was always taught he was a simple working man. I agree with “Ex Theolog.” that the church to-day wants to wake up and to look more to the simple Hungs of life, and to look more to the man in the street.—Yours, etc., CHURCH OF ENGLAND MEMBER. October 15. 1949.
