UNSOLVED MURDERS
Sir, —During recent years our Government has made a practice of appointing commissions and sending various officials overseas to solve numerous problems. It would appear the time is long overdue to make searching inquiries into our police system. As one murder follows close on another. it seems to be routine that the public are told of thousands of interviews, etc., etc., all to no purpose. I would respectfully suggest that the best police and legal brains of Britain be .sought to help our police department to deal with a problem that it has proved totally unable to solve. ■>—Yours, etc., APPREHENSIVE. October 10, 1949. [“There are more undetected murderers a head of population in England than in New Zealand.” said the Commissioner of Pplice (Mr J. Cummings), when the letter w r as referred to him.]
