WHY BLAME THE MOON ?

Sir, —In the news columns of “The Press,” Septembpr 5, certain fruitgrowers are said to be fearing frosts before and after the full moon. Why blame the moon? The state of the weather has been recorded in Greenwich for 200 years and no affinity has been found with the phases of our satellite. Naturally a noonlight frosty night is spectacular and impresses the mind, but observation over a period of a year or two will prove the fullmoonfrost a fallacy.—Yours, etc., LUNA. | Kaiapoi, September 6, 1949.
