MR CHURCHILL’S FIRST RACEHORSE WINS.—Colonist 11, Mr Winston Churchill’s French-bred grey three-year-old, returning to scale after winning the Upavon Stakes at Salisbury on August 25. This was the first time that the Churchill colours (pink with chocolate sleeves and cap) had been carried in a race. Mr Churchill was unable to be present. Instead, his son-in-law, Captain C. Soames (right, wearing hat), congratulated the jockey, T. Hawcroft, as Colonist II was led in.
