MOTOR ROAD RACE

Sir, —“Supporter” will not be alone in his disappointment if the Grand Prix is not held at Cust this year. Those who know Cust on Easter Monday need no reminding that it’s the best event of its kind in the South Island and possibly the Dominion. Those who don’t know the thrill and excitement of that day need merely ask someone who does and it will be readily apoarent why the cancellation of this event would be such a loss to the sporting life of the province. Last year’s Grand Prix provided the chief subject covered by the National Film Unit. Surely Canterbury and Christchurch in particular can ensure that, this fixture is secured for this year, even at this late hour, and thus pave the way for bigger and better events in the future.—Yours, etc.. YACHTSMAN. March 30. 1949.
