FIRE IN POTTERY 7 WORKS

CROCKERY DESTROYED

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. January 21. Fire destroyed a large part of the main block of the Amalgamated Brick and Pipe Company’s No. 4 pottery, af New Lynn, early this morning. The larger part of the wood and iron building was stacked to the roof with strawpacked cases of cups, saucers, jugs, and plates.

Five fire engines quickly cut off the fire in the brick-drying racks and storerooms from the main building; but hoses were playing on the smouldering wreckage until 9 o’clock The stock was insured, but losses are expected to be substantial.
